We break the ice with hilarious gifts for these events by going to a thrift store and buying the ugliest things we can to decorate the home, such as a framed picture, a knick knack, or a wall hanging with so much bling on it that it defies the imagination on how it could have been created. Instead of having a cork, there is about 5" of hot pink fake hair coming out of the top, and it stands straight up. On the back of the bottle is a strip of neon green for a tail. It is truly the ugliest thing I've ever laid my eyes on, and I'm giving it to my sister as a house warming gift for the new, elegant home she bought in a country club.  I laugh just thinking about the look on her face when she opens the gift that I'll put in a gift box from Neiman Marcus, and have them gift wrap.
